About us

The National Center for Housing Management was created in 1972 by the Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development pursuant to an Executive Order of the President of the United States. NCHM's mission is to professionalize the housing management industry, with an emphasis on affordable housing. We carry out this mission through education and certification of housing professionals and through assisting new and existing management organizations in achieving higher levels of operational performance and program compliance. Annually more than 10,000 professionals attend NCHM's classroom and online training programs. Since it was first established, NCHM has certified more than 150,000 housing professionals.
